My family Background style

Where we are from

My family is from South Korea. My grandparents were the first family to immigrate to New Zealand back in 1992. They decided to move here because they wanted a better environment and also because they believed New Zealand will provide a better education for their children. It was a challenge to move here though, because neither of my grandparents could speak fluently in English. That was definietly a barrier that stood against them settling into New Zealand. But eventually they settled and learnt how to speak English.

My parents' childhood

My mum was born in 1974 in Seoul, Korea, in a family of 5. She was the eldest followed by my aunt and my uncle. She grew up in a pleasent home, with two-story house with a large backyard. She enjoy shopping, reading and travelling, and she loved to draw and paint. Her favourite subjects were English and Biology. My dad was born in 1970 in Seoul, Korea, in a family of 4. He was the eldest followed by my aunt. He grew up in a average household and he enjoyed hiking, hanging out with friends and he was a huge fan of baseball as this was his fabourite sport.

What we love to do

Our family is very adventurous and we love to travel and be active. We also love watching movies. My favourite memory was when we went to Singapore back in 2016. Here's a photo of my family in Singapore ←↖︎

An interesting fact about my family history

My early ancestor was a very famous scientist/governours who wrote highly influential books about philosophy, science and theories of government in Korea. He was in a high position in Korea and was a close confidant of the King at that time. He was also noted as a poet. He helped construct/architect the Hwaseong Fortress which is the capital of Gyeonggi-do in South Korea. This was built for the King back in 1794.
